Video Production 102 (after crash course)

This is a 6-day, intensive workshop designed for all ages - there is a minimum skills level for this course. Completion of our Crash Course, resume or ‘reel’, or portfolio that proves your past experience.

The workshop runs from Monday to Saturday. Course times are Monday to Friday, 9AM to 7PM, and Saturday 7.30AM to 12 NOON. A BBQ lunch to wrap up the week is held on Saturday after class.

SOME OF THE SUBJECTS WE COVER

• Discussions about the industry & student’s individual goals
• Cameras – higher end formats used in HD filmmaking
• Camera equipment – HDCAM, P2
• Lighting and lighting equipment – an in-depth look at colour temperatures relating to mood and style, and why this should be second nature now
• Lens selection
• Managing a crew – or the role of Director of Photography or Shooting Director
• Production audio recording – time codes, digital slates etc
• Story construction and delivery
• Making your ‘on-camera’ talent look great, or ‘not great’
• More on camera angles, and making decisions based on the ‘story’
• Lenses, light, depth of field, contrast
• Hand-held camerawork
• Electrical distribution and health and safety ‘re-hash’

Attendance for this course is limited to 7-10 students; each student will have one package per 2 students to work with. Extensive lighting packages will be available in this workshop.

This workshop leans toward a documentary style course, and safety is our number one priority, so it is important that each student come to ‘work’ wearing work boots (no sneakers), cargo pants or work pants a long sleeve collared shirt (prepare to get it dirty), with a floppy wide brim fishing style hat. This is an OH&S requirement.

COST: $3,500.00 per workshop - includes all equipment. Must have at least 10 students for course to take place. Does not include food & bev other than BBQ.
